Change in coal consumption and sulphur dioxide emissions

Sulphur dioxide (SO₂) is an air pollutant formed from the burning of fuels that contain sulphur, such as coal. Countries can reduce SO₂ emissions by burning lesscoal, or installing desulphurization technologies which remove sulphur from the smokestack.
